Orlando Taylor, Hillary Clinton, and Katrina Rogers met in Washington, DC, in May.

Fielding student Carolyn Elliott, who has known Hillary and Bill Clinton for years through her work with the Arkansas Department of Education, arranged the meeting, at which the former Senator and Secretary of State shared her views of the essential role education plays in a strong democratic society.

Taking questions from the handful of children at the gathering, she emphasized the importance of access to education and the need for public funding to support educational systems that are diverse and affordable.

Her plans for higher education include opening up federal financial aid to alternative education providers, softening student loan repayment requirements for entrepreneurs, and granting green cards to STEM students–according to Inside Higher Ed.
