MOU Signed for STEM Leadership Collaboration
Fielding Graduate University and Los Angeles Harbor college signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Tuesday to create a partnership for collaboration in leadership development in the STEM professions.
The two institutions, one a graduate school and the other a community college, will collaborate on faculty development and joint fundraising for projects of mutual interest.
In addition to working more closely on issues of access and equity related to each of their institution’s mission, L.A. Harbor college STEM faculty will be invited to participate in Fielding’s leadership development academy, which focuses on advancing leaders in the STEM professions, particularly women of color.
“As the needs of our diverse society grow,” noted Fielding’s President Katrina Rogers, “it is critical for institutions of higher education to work together and form close partnerships in order to provide a robust intellectual training ground for the next generation of leaders in education.”
President Otto Lee from L.A. Harbor College agreed. “With Fielding’s mission to create a more just and humane world through graduate education and L.A. Harbor College’s mission of social justice,” he said, “we are aligned institutions for delivering education that is accessible to a diverse constituency.”
