Harriette Rasmussen joins Drexel University’s School of Education faculty

Harriette Thurber Rasmussen, EdD

Harriette Rasmussen is excited to have joined Drexel University’s School of Education where she works with a close-knit faculty dedicated to developing the next generation of change agents. While she will primarily be supervising dissertations, she will also teach leadership and research courses and engage in program development.

Harriette received her EdD from Fielding Graduate University in 2015 and, under the tutelage of outstanding mentors (e.g., Four Arrows, Anna DiStefano, Lee Mahon) soon began her transition from K-12 to higher education. At Drexel, she has focused her energies on developing an alternative assessment system that intends to support students in doctoral competency development, new coursework related to academic writing, professional education offerings, and rethinking the traditional 5 chapter dissertation.

She is the editor of the new book Adaptive Leadership in a Global Economy. With the entire world experiencing the global pandemic and its aftermath, VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous) conditions have never been more extreme and the need for adaptive leadership is never more urgent. But how is adaptive leadership applied outside Western cultures? How can it be taught through leadership development programs? Aiming to increase conceptual clarity about adaptive leadership to enhance future scholarship and application and illustrate novel approaches and perspectives, this book will be of interest to researchers, academics, practitioners, and students in the fields of leadership, strategy, and organizational studies. Of particular note to Fielding is the inclusion of a chapter by Four Arrows and colleague Shannon Kenney: “Democratic Indigenous Adaptive Leadership: An American Indian Women Leadership Model.”

She and her co-editor on this latest book (Mohammed Raei) are already planning their next project – so stay tuned.
