Aiden Hirshfield, PhD Media Psychology Program alum Aiden Hirshfield, Ph.D.’19, is the 2022 recipient of the Dianne Kipnes Social Innovation Award. The Award will partially fund his project, Providing Critical Support for ASL Interpreters in the Mental Health Setting. The project goals are to support and offer additional educational opportunities to American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters who face considerable occupational stress and financial challenges. The project’s mission is to improve the vocational skills of interpreters. Mentoring and Storytelling Project Aims to Show Our Commonality This month, at a lunch table in Downtown Los Angeles, unlikely dining companions shared their third meal together: a septuagenarian survivor of the WWII attack on Pearl Harbor alongside a former gang member whose life started in war-torn El Salvador.
