Orlando L. Taylor, Ph.D.

Thanks to the generosity of donors, the Marie Fielder Center is pleased to announce the Orlando L. Taylor Excellence in Scholarship Award. The award will be made annually to student or alumni recipients whose research and/or writing exemplifies the concern with education, leadership, and democracy that characterized the career of Dr. Orlando L. Taylor, for whom the scholarship is named.

The award will recognize a student or alum whose work appeared in a peer-reviewed publication in the previous calendar year or was presented at a professional conference in the previous calendar year. The publication or presentation should demonstrate a concern with fostering leadership, equity, and democratic values in educational settings.

Nominations can be made by Fielding faculty members, program directors, or academic leaders. Nominations are due by November 15, 2024.  Self-nominations are not allowed.  While alumni are eligible, preference will be given to student nominees. A committee of the university’s academic leaders will review nominations and award decisions will be announced in January 2025.

To nominate a student or alum, please use this link to provide the nominee’s name, citation of a publication or presentation in the previous calendar year, and a statement regarding how the work demonstrates a concern with fostering leadership, equity, and democratic values in educational settings.
