FIELDING STAR ALUMNI ALERT: Peninsula College names Dr. Suzanne Ames the next president.
Board of Trustees Chair Mike Glenn shared: “Dr. Ames has worked her entire career preparing for this opportunity, and we could not be more pleased she will be the next President of Peninsula College. Her open, collaborative leadership style and commitment to teaching and learning will be a great asset to the College community.”
Dr. Ames previously served as Associate Vice President of Instruction at Lake Washington Institute of Technology. Dr. Ames earned a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership for Change from Fielding Graduate University in Santa Barbara, CA; a Master of Business Administration in Marketing from City University in Seattle, WA; and two Bachelors of Arts in Communications and Political Science from the University of Washington in Seattle, WA.
Her dissertation research at Fielding, titled “Developmental Stages of Community Colleges and Their Employees that Emerge as a Result of Offering an Applied Baccalaureate Degree,” included significant findings for community colleges that offered educational opportunities to their employees. Common experiences included a recommitment to the community college mission and increased pride in the employee’s work and their college. Most recently, Fielding’s Dean of School of Leadership Studies, Dr. Mink, hosted a panel discussion on the impact of community colleges in advancing the social justice agenda.
