You’ll learn the conceptual basis of the technique and the steps to use it in coaching.  This short synopsis from one of my clients may give you a glimpse of the technique to whet your appetite. I was coaching Amber with my archetypal imagery.  I always start by asking a client about something that has happened in the last few weeks that they didn’t like or something that made them feel uncomfortable. I call this a presenting condition, since it usually is tied to an on-going pattern that isn’t helping the client. Tapping the client’s deep wisdom can transform such a pattern to give clarity. Amber was a learning officer in a Fortune 500 company, and was presenting a new roll out of a creative product to help their line sales people.  Even though her boss who led the meeting was supportive, one of her peers criticized her plan in a very aggressive way.  She was hurt, angry and sad. The criticism tapped into some insecurities she had about if she was actually qualified to have her position.  She kept it together during the meeting, but afterwards was upset for days.  Amber took my archetype quiz, and found “the Magician”.   This archetype represents intuition and power.  Amber did research on this archetype between sessions, wrote a story and drew a picture. We did a follow up imagery exercises, and the “Magician” transformed to an archetype she called “Wisdom.”   In the next coaching session, we visualized the scene at work as if was happening again, and this time, she embodied “Wisdom”, and realized she had power in the situation.  She was able to let the feelings go, and also strengthen her belief in her own competence. Annabelle Nelson, PhD is a professor, author, researcher, and dynamic speaker. Nelson is now a professor at Fielding Graduate University. She has presented at many international and U.S. conferences, completed a Fulbright in India and published five books and many journal articles. This experience gives Nelson the expertise to create transformational learning in teaching and coaching to tap deep wisdom.  Her innovative and effective imagery technique is documented in Archetypal imagery and the spirit self: techniques for coaches and therapists, 2014, published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers. Social service has been integral to Nelson’ career.
