On September 9, President Katrina Rogers will give the keynote speech at the free community forum “Pondering Peace in a World of Turmoil” hosted by Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, Calif.
The forum extends from September 9 through 11, marking the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
”In remembrance of the many lives lost through that one grievous act of terrorism, as well as the recent acts of violence rocking so many communities throughout the U.S., it is my hope that our event will inspire other individuals and institutions to step up and create ways to begin dialogue within their own communities,” said Dianne Travis-Teague, director of alumni relations for Pacifica.
The event is designed to promote peace through intercultural dialogue, reflection, celebration, and artistic expression with panel discussions, movie screenings, poetry readings, art exhibits, musical performances, meditations, refreshments, and more.
The event’s other keynote speaker is David Krieger, president of the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation and a leader in the global movement to eliminate nuclear weapons.
Fielding folks are invited to attend the forum, which is free and open to the public and will take place at Pacifica’s campus at 801 Ladera Lane, Santa Barbara. Hours are 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Register if you would like meal service provided.
